I have yet to watch a season of The Top Chef, shown on Bravo, but the other night I found myself watching the marathon they had of season two. I have to admit, it is pretty addicting. If you haven't seen it, the show is a competition of aspiring chefs to be chosen as the "Top Chef", depending how delicious and unique they can make a dish. Here is a preview of Top Chef, Season 3 in Chicago:
I am going to track this season more as it goes on and see if we can get more ideas for Top Restaurants around the country.

The Top Restaurant - Hot Dog Eating Contest
I am sure anyone who has a television in their home has seen this young man eat his hot dogs. This is a video of Kobayashi going up against Joey Chestnut. Kobayashi had previously set several records for eating the most hot dogs, but was upset on this contest.
I dont know how they do it. I'm sure everyone enjoys a good hot dog. But that many must do some damage later on in the day. In fact one of our featured top restaurants is Pinks Hot Dogs in Hollywood, California. Now if these guys could be downing Pink's dogs, than I would be impressed. As for me, I try to limit a dog to just a couple times a month. But you got to respect it, these guys can pack in the dogs.

California Beef Recall
This video that has been shown all across the news has initiated the recall of over 143 million pounds of beef in the Southern California Region.
The video shows a sick cow being forced into the slaughter house. This video has caused a huge awareness in the consumer of how their "beef" is being raised. There has been a call from the consumer to bring back the cowboys, and have the cows graze the pastures and eat real grass.
We understand the problem, but in no way will this affect our hunt to find the top restaurants in the nation. Just make sure you are eating at top notch restaurants.

Why Do We Have To Use Chop Stix?
If you're anything like me, you find yourself in the sushi restaurants quite often. As you look around the restaurant, you notice all of the people handling the sushi with the art of the "chopstick." Now I consider myself a pretty smart and coordinated guy, but I have been eating sushi now for about 5 years, and I have not been able to successfully have a flawless round of sushi eating using them.
And of course you don't dare use anything else and receive the offending glares from the locals in the restaurant, casually using theirs like its Harry Potter's wand.
The questions I have is, why? Why do I have to suffer and risk losing have my roll, stumbling through the crack, when I could successfully use a fork and enjoy the whole roll. Why has our society adapted to using the stix, solely for the purpose of sushi. We haven't switched to the metric system just because the rest of the world has. I ask permission for the sushi connoisseurs to forgive me and accept as a handicap of mine, and not judge me if I choose not to use stix while eating sushi. I then could eat a lot more of my sushi, and feel not as bad for paying $30 for lunch.

Bad Foods and Bad Places to Eat Experience
Making the search for the best/top restaurants in the US, we run into a lot of restaurants that definitely don't make the list. I guess with every great thing, there is something just as bad. We wanted to post some of the nastiest, most disgusting food that we have seen out there.
This particluar dish was found at Chinese Food restaurant. You are probably thinking the same thing we did and no, we never did find out exactly what it was.Instead we briefly got our check and moved on to the next restaurant.

No, this dish is not going to be taken out to the pigs. It was actually served. At first glance you wonder if a human body had been decapitated and served to us for lunch. In reality, this dish did not last for more than 30 seconds in front of our faces before it was thrown in the trash. Maybe one of the grossest things I have ever seen. Oh and they did manage to squeeze some parsley onto the plate.

Ya, not much of an explanation needs to be followed by this dish. It reminds me when I use to play kitchen in the mud on rainy days. There are people who actually wake up in the morning and say to themsleves, (this runny, muddy black stuff), mmmm, that sounds good, I think I'll have that.
